What is Neuroscience?

Neuroscience is the perfect vehicle for bringing together a variety of disciplines to help students dig deeply into the scientific process while growing a rich understanding of how brain functions affect learning and behavior. Having a clear understanding of how our brains work supports individual learning processes and helps students function better in collaborative situations.  The field of neuroscience is proving to have many applications and connections to a whole host of complex problems.

Neuroscience Framework

The neuroscience framework is best described by our students, teachers, and partners.

Cross-Categorical Approach

Applying a cross-categorical approach is helping to push innovation in many disciplines and indeed is the driving force in the development of new approaches in education, law, and organizational thinking to name a few. In this way, using the lens of neuroscience will help our students excel in any school or working environment as they develop the necessary skills to be successful in the 21st century. This lens will also position our students and teachers to be able to explore cutting edge technologies and innovations in a world we can only begin to imagine.

Vertical Module Themes

The module themes are land, space, and ocean. The spanning nature of each theme makes it easier to meet the developmental needs of the grade level while maintaining continuity in a PK-8 system.

Module Components

To ensure continuity between modules and similar experiences across grade levels each module will have the same set of components. Modules are vertically aligned and developed by themes repeating every three years (e.g. 1st, 4th & 7th). The content builds on itself to allow students to experience different experiments and design challenges while still operating within the same module theme.
